The Barre Zen Meditation Center - Kokyoji (Eternal Light Temple) formally opened November 4, 2024 as part of the Udumbara National Sangha founded by Rev. Sojin Diane Martin, Roshi.

We function as a not-for-profit public benefit religious organization incorporated in the State of Vermont and serving the Central Vermont Community.

Barre Zen Meditation Center provides traditional Soto Zen teachings and practice sessions. These foundational practice and study sessions originate from the historical Buddha Shakyamuni as developed throgh the wisdom of Eihei Dogen, the 13th Century founder of the Sotoshu (Soto Zen Schoo;) in Japan.

We invite you to join our community in seeking clarity and presence. Our schedule includes meditation and dharma talks designed to integrate Zen principles into modern life.

Private interviews with th eteachers are available on request.

Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or just beginning your journey, Kokyoji offers a supportive space for spiritual growth, fellowship, and collective mindfulness.
